a life worth living is a life worth wishing for

People say they don't believe in the universe or any kind of higher power but nobody ever passes up an opportunity to make a wish.

Birthday candles, eyelashes, fountains, stars, dandelions, 11:11 etc. It's quite fascinating, really. It's been years since I last made a wish upon a dandelion. Yet, on occasion, you can catch me in a moment of reverie, shutting my eyes as a shooting star streaks across the sky.

I’d like to think that there’s still a part of me that believes dreams really do come true. Not simply wanting things to happen, but knowing that they actually will, with that same childlike certainty I had so many years ago.

So many things change as we get older.
So many things we can’t control.
But one thing is certain.

I’ll never grow old enough to stop believing that it’s still worth taking a moment to pause…& make a wish.

I entered my birthday laying on a roof, gazing up at a sky full of stars like I’ve never seen before where I got to witness the incredible sight of the Milky Way stretching out before me — & just like that, it struck me.

A life worth living is a life worth wishing for.
