when I grow up
When you’re a kid you dream of what you want to do with no hesitations.
“I want to be an architect, a fireman, a doctor, a teacher…when I grow up” — then you grow up.
We let the fear of ‘what could happen’ make nothing happen. We marry the salary. We say “it’s just a job” — wake up, show up, get paid, repeat.
We require a certain amount of right answers to pass tests yetfail answering “Do you live to work or work to live?”
When we’re adults we dream with only hesitations. The what if’s, the hows, the I can’t because of…The thing is your work is going to fill up a big portion of your life — & it’s not the amount of hours you spend at work that matter, it’s how you spend your time. The ones who love what they do spend more time working because you can’t put a price on a salary that pays you with freedom.
If you’re not too young to say “I want be an astronaut when I grow up” then you’re not too old to become it. There’sno age to dreaming big.
The motto is “if you love what you do, you’ll never have to work a day in your life” — so choose to love what you do.
The little kid version of you will thank you.
