dear new york,

“New” York. That’s how it can leave you feeling taking your first steps here; new. All of sudden, you’re a kid, learning everything all over again.

New friends, clothes, relationships, opportunities, cultures etc.

It makes your heart dance a little. You just want to get up & go, without any direction. Get a little lost just to forget where you came from. Not because you want to run away from your past but rather, you’re drawn to running towards something new. It leads you to the discovery of who you truly are.

Gradually, sleep begins to feel useless. You adapt to dreaming while you’re awake to get all the New York minutes you can get.

It leaves you craving more, an addiction that can never quite be met.

Every place, every street, every person is a new adventure; pulling you deeper into the love of what the city is all about.

Each corner you turn is as if you’re flipping through pages & all the stories connect, like the Manhattan grid.

I get it, “new” can be chaotic & gritty. Although, the beauty of life is in the messiness, the f*cking up, making mistakes & learning from experiences.

Sure, it was scary for you to make the move but now nothing is more frightening than the thought of living anywhere else but here.

Dear New York, it’s been almost four years since I left you & my most recent visit only solidified; I’ll never get over you.

PS: I miss you.
