A Grain of Thought: Traffic

It's like the universe poured into the hourglass, then hit pause. A sand still.

It’s a Saturday afternoon. You get ready, hop in your car, head out for a friends’ gathering. Your ETA is set for 3:15 but then, unexpectedly, you’re hit by a wave of traffic, stretching your estimated arrival time to 5:00.

Your plan being on time crumbles like sand slipping through your fingers, & that feeling of falling behind creeps in.

What you don’t know is, Jordan’s racing against time in the midst of a divorce battle, on his way to court in hopes to win custody of his children. Meanwhile, Emma’s steering towards her own crossroads—her boyfriend's about to pop the question but she’s not ready. Her life's a mess with her sister's fertility struggle, a friend's gut-wrenching loss, & her aunt's affair.

Then there is Liz, the general surgeon racing for a life-saving surgery, stuck in this chaos just like you.

& let's not forget hundreds of cars ahead, Jack is driving a lot slower than he normally would because he is taking his dad to the hospital so he can complete his last chemo treatment.

Yet, you sit there in frustration, wondering why there's traffic when it's not even rush hour...

We're all grains, you know. In this vast desert of existence, each on our own time. Our paths intersect & diverge like wind-sculpted dunes—Just as no two dunes are exactly alike, no two life journeys are identical.

I know you have your own battles. But could the realization that everyone's dealing with their own delays shift your perspective & cast light on the fact that life can throw far heavier punches? Bring you gratitude? How about the simple blessings—a car to take you places, friends to lean on, & more.

Others may reach destinations before you; promotions, weddings, babies etc. but you’re not tardy by life's grand clock.

What if this route you're on is richer than your planned path?

Maybe this is about you slowing down & realizing, it’s not a matter of "if," but "when" you'll get there

Embrace the flow of delays. You’re right on time.
